Many collectors of tattoo art do so for the sheer fact that they are “art lovers.” The beauty and impact of the design are the factors most important in their choice. The other school of collectors do you for more personal reasons.

Since the days of sailors having anchors and the name of their war ship tattooed on their forearms, tattoos have been linked with careers, loved ones and memories from the past.

When deciding on tattoos with meaning it is imperative to decide on what you want the tattoo to represent, and how it will be represented artistically.

Say for instance that you have decided to have a design commemorating you mother. In days gone by you would pick your favourite design from the wall and have either “mother” or your mum’s name scripted in English in a scroll above, in the middle or underneath.

This is a typical “old school” design, and whilst it still has its fans in the marketplace there are now a number of different options to go for.

So, lets pick a typical tattoo with meaning and look at what you can do with it shall we?

You and your partner have recently fallen in love and you’ve both decided to commemorate your union with a tattoo. Hear are some ideas:

1. Go “old school” and have a something that represents your partners favourite interest tattooed. She loves flowers, get her favourite flower, he loves motor cars, get his favourite car designed. Then have their name emblazoned in a scroll or banner within the design. As I said, It’s old fashioned but it still appeals to many. The disadvantage here is if you break up. You will have your ex’s name forever marked and you will have to look at cover up options or laser surgery to remove it. The bigger the design, the bolder the colours, the more problematic that will be.

2. Both talk through your likes and dislikes. When you have found something in common that you both love, and can find a suitable design for it, Both have the same design tattooed. This is a permanent link with you partner. If indeed the relationship ends, you still liked the idea behind the design so there is no problem with retaining it is there?

3. Perhaps there is something you’ve always said to your partner, some form of catchphrase or verse of poetry. Have it inked in script somewhere on your body, but consider another language. Maybe something from the middle east where the written languages tend to flow like beautiful designs themselves, or some form of oriental lettering. The beauty of the Chinese/Japanese symbols is that you can make them bigger and add colour to them. No one will know the meaning behind the tattoo unless you choose to tell them. A deeply personal style of tattoo.

4. A portrait of your loved one. Be very careful about this. A portrait of someone is far more involved than someone’s name on your body in script. It will have to be bigger in order to contain the detail needed to make it work. If you go too small it will look a mess. It will be very difficult to cover up should the relationship end.

If you decide to go down this route make sure you employ a tattoo artist that specialises in portrait work and have a good look at his/her previous work beforehand. The internet is littered with images of portrait designs that didn’t work out and look nothing like the loved one they are supposed to emulate.

Get this wrong and your tattoo with meaning will not only upset you but offend your loved one as well. Not the end result you had wished for.

By: Rock Browny

About the Author:

This day and age, more and more folk are deciding to get permanent tattoos, leaving their mark of choice on their skin. If the tattoo is applied by an experienced artist, the chance concerned will be minimal. As sad as it is however, many of us who get tattoos end up going to apartments that use unsanitary apparatus – ensuing in infections or other heavy issues.

Years back, brief tattoos were found in quarter machines, bubble gum wrappers, and even toy sections of the corner store. Children liked to get these temporary tattoos, as they presented a way for kids to have a tattoo – one that was completely safe and would wash off. Now days, even adults are beginning to think that this is the right idea. The brief tattoos of today are no longer just for kids, as most last a long time – making them ideal for adults.

The smartest thing about transient tattoos, is the fact that they are indeed non-permanent. With transient tattoos, you do not have to fret about infections or unsanitary hardware, as there’s no piercing of the skin involved. Non permanent tattoos are safe, and remove simply with water and soap. This is very cost friendly as well – as permanent tattoos require surgery to remove.

If you’ve been thinking about getting an abiding tattoo, you must first give a short lived tattoo a try. Tattoos that are transient offer an excellent way to test out designs, and see whether a tattoo is best for you. If you do not like it, all you have to do is wash it off. Then, you should buy another one and see whether you like it better. There are literally thousands of temporary tattoos out there, with designs that are sure to please everybody.

If you decide to get an abiding tattoo instead, you are just about stuck with it. To get shot of an enduring tattoo, you’ll have to have it surgically removed, which can cost thousands of greenbacks. You will also face the danger of infection, along with a permanent scar. Permanent tattoos are great though – providing you are pleased with the tattoo.

In most situations, short lived tattoos look just like an enduring tattoo. To employ them simply lick the tattoo or use water and apply to your skin. When you have it where you would like it, simply apply pressure for a few seconds. They’re simple to apply, and last till you wash them off. If you decide to get a longer lasting temporary tattoo, it’ll last for a longer period of time. This way, you can decide if an enduring tattoo is going to be worth the investment.

You’ll find temporary tattoos in local stores or on the Net. They are very affordable as well, even less expensive if you purchase them in bulk. Tattoo artists also sell them, and normally have a giant selection available. This way, you can look through the available selections and find the tattoo that fits your style.

All in all, non-permanent tattoos are easier to apply than permanent tattoos and they pose no risk to your skin or your health. Those that are terrified of needles tend to like them as well, as they give you the opportunity to have a tattoo without going under the needle. Before you dash out and get a tattoo, you need to instead give permanent tattoos a try. They won’t cost you a lot of money – yet they’re going to give you the opportunity to see how you look with a tattoo – and decide if a permanent tattoo is truly something you want.

By: Max W Orr

About the Author:

Tattoos have been in existence throughout history. In fact tattoos were used as a form of body ornamentation thousands of years ago. Across generations, tattoos have evolved as a body art and recently tattooing has spread across the globe. Almost world-wide, tattoos are now regarded as an art form. There are even international summits, conventions and exhibits on the art of tattooing. This just goes to show how tattoos have evolved from a mere body ornament to a piece of art. But not everybody wants to have a permanent tattoo.

Having a permanent tattoo applied to any part of the body is painful. In order to make the tattoo permanent you must endure being pricked by a needle over and over again. This kind of tattoo is also permanent and requires surgery to remove. These are a few of the reasons why people are turning more and more to fake (or temporary) tattoos.

One method for a do-it-yourself tattoo is through the use of body paint. The materials you need are tracing paper, body paint, a ballpoint pen and pair of scissors. First, you have to choose tattoo pattern. You can find a pattern in books, tattoo albums or over the internet. Once a pattern is selected, you have to trace it with the tracing paper. All the details must be carefully traced. Then it is time to cut the pattern out. Once the pattern has been fully cut, position it on the body where you want the tattoo placed. Carefully, with the use of a ballpoint pen, draw the pattern on the body. The drawing must be clear because this will serve as the guide for applying the body paint. Apply the body paint over the entire transferred pattern. You have to be careful that the paint will not smudge; otherwise the tattoo will be messy. You may ask a friend to assist you with this. Once the pattern has been fully painted in, wipe around the pattern with cotton balls to remove the excess paint. Let the tattoo dry. The use of a blow dryer on the paint will speed up your drying time. You now have a brand new temporary tattoo.

Another way to make a temporary tattoo is by simply copying a tattoo pattern onto the skin with the use of ballpoint pens or color marker pens with a fine point. Just make sure that you are not allergic to any of the marker inks.

1. With the use of an eyebrow pencil of a colored pencil, draw the tattoo pattern very lightly on the body where you want your tattoo positioned.

2. Carefully trace the illustrated pattern with your ballpoint pen or fine pointed colored marker. The tracing must be done with care to make sure that the coloring will not go outside of the pattern. This is very important to make your tattoos look clean and neat.

Temporary tattoos are easy and fun to do. You just need to be creative when choosing a tattoo design to be placed on the body. Since the tattoos are temporary, feel free to experiment. Have fun, be creative, one’s work of art is an expression of one’s personality.

By: Suryaratna Chandrashekar

About the Author:

As tattoos become more popular among all age groups, temporary tattoos are increasing in popularity as well. Because they are not permanent, temporary tattoos allow people who would not ordinarily do so to wear tattoos.

Students Love Them!

The temporary nature of these tattoos allow even the most reticent college student to become a strident supporter of their college. A single, simple, well played impermanent tattoo may be just the start for such a person. After their comfort level has grown, you may find them the biggest tattoo supporter at the school.

For the more adventurous type, however, this product allows them to go all out. By using impermanent tattoos, these boisterous people can tattoo their entire faces, arms, legs, stomachs, and backs if they so desire. Or they can combine a number of different designs, all of which support their college, of course, in a more artistic display of school spirit.

Not relegated to small children any longer, temporary tattoos are quickly growing in popularity among college students as well. This fact makes this product the perfect way for your school to raise much needed funds while feeding the school spirit that is so important to those fundraising goals.

Made from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved materials and non toxic, hypoallergenic materials, they are safe no matter where they are used. With professional looking results possible with just a little water and a cloth, temporary tattoos allow enthusiastic fans to show their support quickly and easily.

Although most commonly worn on the body, these tattoos can also be applied to inanimate objects such as lockers, books, and the like, as well. College students can come up with a variety of innovative and artistic uses for them, all in the name of school spirit.

Colleges Reap the Financial Benefits

Impermanent tattoos offer a high profit margin for your next college fundraiser as well as an exciting way to show school spirit. Inexpensive to purchase in bulk, they are available in stock images and colors as well as custom images. This versatility makes temporary tattoos the perfect fundraiser.

If a custom image is more suited to the college’s style, you can choose to have a tattoo made from any kind of logo, graphic, or artwork. You can even use a photograph. You can also purchase a variety, from tattoos that feature the college colors to tattoos that feature the school mascot. By ordering a variety, you will offer the school supporters more of a choice.

Because most correspondence is via email, you can order and send design images at any time, day or night. There is also a seamless communication trail that ensures prompt and courteous customer service. Generally, turnaround times to receive your tattoos are short, within fourteen business days.

This ensures that you will have plenty of time to solicit input from the fundraising committee members, order the exciting temporary tattoos, and get the fundraisers out into the college community to drum up awareness and school spirit before the homecoming game or your other big college welcoming event.

By: Jennifer T Smith

About the Author:

When you say

“my best friend” in English, it can mean either a boy or a girl. In Hebrew,

these are 2 different translations.
Article by Mia Cusack

Immortalise your designs… at least for five days!

Tattoos can either be very hot… or very not! Sometimes the same tattoo is seen at both ends of the spectrum by different people. Temporary tattoo design is definitely an art unto itself – more detailed and intricate than logo design, but far less intricate than designing a real tattoo, which is usually far larger. Whether you are looking to promote a business, get a public service message out there, get publicity for a sporting event or build buzz around a topic, a nicely designed temporary tattoo is a fabulous platform. Today we check out how to design a temporary tattoo for your message that sits firmly at the ‘hot’ end of the spectrum!

Decide on your strategy

Your design for a temporary tattoo should aim to ‘do’ something… for the people wearing it, as well as for your company! Think about which of the following temporary tattoo aims will work well with your current branding:

* Being decorative* Being humorous* Helping the wearer express themselves

Think beyond clipart

Printing technology and techniques is now light years ahead of where it was 20 years ago, when temporary tattoos were just starting to become available. Now it is possible to get photographic quality, high resolution temporary tattoos that will stay looking great for up to 6 days.

Try not to have photographs dominating your design, it will be difficult to make sense of once on skin. However, you should certainly not limit yourself to the clipart-style temporary tattoos that are available off-the-shelf, if you’re taking the trouble to design your own. Your temporary tattoo should be identifiable from a couple of metres away, to provide an ideal level of branding.

Pop your logo in

While I wouldn’t recommend making your logo the focus of your temporary tattoo design, you will want to include it. Logos are especially important for branding on kids tattoos – most kids can recognize the golden arches of McDonalds for several years before they can read, and the same is possible for your logo!

Once you have a basic idea down, pop your logo in. You’ll want to make sure the colours of the rest of your temporary tattoo work well with the logo, and that it isn’t just stuck off the side… where scissors can cut it off altogether!

Borrow a design!

While I wouldn’t recommend straight-out copying of somebody else’s design for your temporary tattoos, even the top designers don’t just ‘come up’ with designs all by themselves. They have simply become skilled at seeking inspiration in other media, and refining it for their own use.

Temporary tattoos are most similar to t-shirts in the prominence and number of design elements. Have a look around at t-shirt designs on the internet – they usually contain just the right proportions of words and pictures to fit on a temporary tattoo.

You can also check out simpler real tattoos as inspiration for your temporary tattoo designs – if you aren’t sure whether they’ll translate well to your own product, your temporary tattoo manufacturer and printer can usually provide some pointers.

Don’t forget that if you really feel stuck, most good temporary tattoo manufacturers will also provide some design ideas for the perfect temp tatt!
