‘miami Ink’ ? Enter the World of Tattooing!
5 friends come together to start a new lease of life by opening up their own tattoo shop in Miami Beach, Florida. Ami James and Chris Nunez plan to start a tattoo shop at a place called LoveHate lounge co-owned by them. So, they come along together with some of their old and skilled tattoo artist friends, Chris Garver, Darren Brass and Yoji Harada, to open up a parlor- Miami Ink.
Miami Ink is a show aired on TLC which portrays the happenings at this shop. It’s a great TV series that shows many interesting people walking in to get their tattoos done and the show has also succeeded in capturing the feelings of the customers and the process of the artist in a great way. Season 1 started with a grand opening party in the first episode where the shop is set up and the first customer gets a tattoo of the Hawaiian Islands. Slowly as the episodes go by, it becomes prominent that business picks up and their friend Yoji gets married to his fiancée Bridgette. Season 1 ended with Ami injuring himself.
Season 2 begins with Ami buying his dream car and later Yoji getting the pressure as Ami threatens to release him from apprenticeship, if he doesn’t improve his drawing skills. After several interesting episodes where Kat Von D returns and helps out while Ami is out, the season ended with Darren inking a musician while Ami gives a tattoo to a girl helping in memorializing her father. In season 3 Kat leaves ‘Miami Ink’ and ventures out having an ambition to set up her own shop. Season 4 was all about Kat coming back on a surprise visit and once again tensions growing between Ami and Kat.
After completing 4 full seasons, 5th season was back with Ami and Nunez traveling to Las Vegas while well known tattoo artist Joe Capobianco fills the place of guest artist in the shop. Season 5 ended with Ami and Nunez being judges at a bikini contest and a new customer, Joni getting a tattoo of her own piece of art onto her back.

La Ink: ‘la Ink’ Helps Kim Saigh Better Understand Human Nature
Tattoo artist Kim Saigh has become a familiar face to the fans of the TLC reality television series LA Ink. Like her co-workers and fellow cast members, she has become a minor boob tube celebrity thanks to the show, yet she also credits it with helping her overcome her innate shyness. Saigh has also stated that being on LA Ink has given her insight and “profound understanding” into the nature of humanity itself. During an interview with the Ventura County Star, the tattoo artist opened up about what she thought of people in general. She has stated her belief that everybody has quite a bit in common, and everyone arguably comes from a similar place in life.
Saigh further explained that she believed people were differentiated by how they did things, or how they let things affect them. The underlying wants and needs of people, however, remain the same in her view. She applies this philosophy to her tattoo designs and artistic style, which also draw on other various genres. Among these are religious icons, art nouveau, Eastern and Oriental designs, coupled with classic fairy tales. For Saigh, the process of doing a tattoo is an intimate ritual which forms a bond between client and artist.
She is already considered a veteran of the body art industry, still remaining the owner of her own tattoo parlor located in Chicago, called the Cherry Bomb. Of her work as a tattoo expert, Saigh has further asserted that every body artist holds the responsibility of altering someone’s body and helping them through a major change. Even as she still owns and helps manage the Cherry Bomb, Saigh continues to appear and work on LA Ink with her fellow cast members, Kat Von D, Hannah Aitchison, and Pixie Acia. Saigh, Acia and Aitchison were all recruited for the High Voltage Tattoo parlor by Kat Von D.

Thanks to the colorful talents of renowned tattoo artist Kat Von D, actress and fashion designer Margaret Cho now sports artistic designs covering over at least 20% of her body. Cho is well-known for her honest approach in her stand-up comedy, as well as with other aspects of her life, such as her personal struggles with substance abuse and her experiences on the primetime comedy series All-American Girl. She’s also tried to push forward the cause of gay rights in her work, acting as a voice for the homosexual, bisexual and transgender communities within her performances and as an independently speaking activist.
Margaret Cho’s openness has also extended into the rest of her life, whether it be about her own bisexuality, the life and culture of an Asian-American, and her issues with weight. One of her latest efforts so far is to helm a burlesque production, which is titled A Sensuous Woman, in which she steps up to present along with several other performers. The show likewise involves a certain amount of burlesque striptease, and will run in New York during the next few weeks. She went to visit Kat Von D at the High Voltage Tattoo parlor, where the tattoo expert got to work on her female curves. Cho now has sizable tattoo designs found on her stomach, arms, and back.
Kat Von D is a veteran of the TLC network’s other previous tattoo-oriented show Miami Ink, of which LA Ink is a spin-off. By the end of August, Cho wrote a glowing review in her blog about her entire experience with body art, which will be featured in an episode of LA Ink. The actress described Kat Von D’s work as nothing short of amazing, and that she was already a longtime fan of the tattoo artist. She also admired how the procedure didn’t cause any physical pain at all.
