Ideas On Tattoos – Henna Tattoo Designs

Article by Terry Johnson

The increasing popularity of the henna tattoo are due to many reasons.

One reason would be that not all people are really sure they want a permanent, good for the rest of your life tattoo. many people want to experiment with the idea of having a tattoo before committing to it for the rest of their lives. Since the henna does not penetrate the outer layer of the skin, it will fade over time and finally disappear.

While the henna tends to produce only dark colors, it can be made into several shades, all of which are dark. On the outside limits, the henna impression could last about a month before fading. But in reality, it will probably last no more than 7 to 10 days depending on how good the artist was who did the work.

The number of pictures or designs available is only limited to the imagination of the artist. Most designs are influenced by the region of the world being pictured. The ink used comes from the powdered leaves of the henna plant. Most tattoos like this have very open and flower like designs made into very feminine type patterns.

Because there is virtually no pain involved in the placing of this type of tattoo on the body, there are no limitations as to exactly where they can be put. However, in actual practice tattoos on the upper extremities are the easiest to do, and tattoos on the very lowest extremities on the body are the hardest to do. By far, the hand is the most popular location for placement than all the other possibilities.

Perhaps a very positive trait of the henna tattoo is its reputation for being safe to apply on the body.

Unlike a real permanent tattoo, there is no threat of possible infection because of germs on the needle. Because there is no penetration of the ink below the outer layer of the skin, there is no cause for alarm due to any infections.

Also, since most of us are not big fans of suffering through a long and painful application process that can go on for hours, the totally painless application process is a big plus. In addition to that, we all have a little fear that we will make the wrong choice for our first tattoo and regret what we have done forever. Since the henna is only there for a week or two before fading, we don’t have to be concerned with having to live with something we really do not like.

The only proper ink color foe the henna tattoo is the brown color as there are many harmful ingredients contained in black ink. So, if it is suggested to you that black ink is the way to go, just say NO. At least with the henna it is suggested that only the brownish colors be used and to avoid the use of red like colors and of course no black ink.

Free tattoo flash designs would seem like the best possible answer to your tattoo needs. You get a tattoo design that is ready for inking and you didn’t have to pay for it. Just remember, ‘you get what you pay for.’ That’s not to say that you may not find a free tattoo flash design that has good quality but the chances are slim.

Your tattoo needs to be unique.Your tattoo has to express a part of your personality. It should tell a story – your story. When you talk about your tattoo, you should not say, ‘I saw it on so and so and it looked good so I thought I would get it.’ You should have a personal story to tell, whether it’s your first tattoo or your 50th.

How do you get unique tattoo designs?First of all stop looking for free tattoo flash designs. If you’re going to pay good money for a tattoo, pay money for a good tattoo design. The money that you would pay for tattoo flash is a small amount compared to how long you will keep the tattoo and how proud you will be to have a unique tattoo design. Don’t sell yourself and your body cheap.

Design your own tattoo to get a truly unique tattoo design. For the most part, free tattoo flash designs aren’t even good enough to use to design your own tattoo. You should take parts from different tattoos you like, use your imagination and come up with a design that speaks to you and that you can speak about.

Don’t regret your tattoo choice because you were too cheap to spend money on a tattoo design. Get a membership to a tattoo gallery and spend your precious time looking through high quality tattoos. It will really change your perspective on what your tattoo will look like.

Your tattoo will be with you for life so you want it to be unique and imaginative. Stop wasting time looking for free tattoo flash designs. Make the investment now in a membership tattoo gallery site, get unlimited downloads of tattoos and spend your time looking through thousands of the best tattoo designs all in one place.

Article by Gregg Micochero

A tattoo is an artwork or design that is embedded into the skin using a single needle or a group of needles using various types of ink. The word tattoo originates from Tahiti, which is actually, “tatua”, meaning “to mark”. Every culture has used tattoos from the Ice Age to modern man. Only until recently has the mainstream accepted tattoos in the United States. The ancient Egyptians (4000 B.C) practiced tattooing, as evidence can been seen in their mummies. Some beliefs were that women were the ones that inked these tattoos designs on other woman for religious beliefs rather than just beauty. In 400 BC the Japanese began to use tattoos for both cosmetic reasons as well as religious markings. They even used tattoos as a means to brand criminals with markings that referred to the type of crime they committed. Materials used to making these inked skin drawings were created using fine metal needles or even animal bone. The discovery of mummies dating back to the XI dynasty, have uncovered the use of tattoos used by Amulet, a priestess of the goddess Hathor, dating around 2160 BC. She exhibited lines and dots all over her body. This type of body art was restricted to women only. These women were usually involved in religious and ritualistic practices. Egyptians were responsible for spreading the use of these tattoo designs around the known world. Trade among the countries of the Mediterranean, such as Rome, Greece, and Persia helped spread the practice of tattooing. Eventually it reached to the extent of the Far East and Southeast Asia. In the 1700′s Captain James Cook sailed to Tahiti and watched the local natives marking their skin with artwork that was customary to their religious symbols or simply for esthetic beauty. Men and women alike wore these inked tattoo designs on their skin. They used mostly blue and black ink which was made from the smoke of an oily nut. Later, sailors from around the world spread the use of these tattoos after their travels took them to the Tahitian islands. Mexican Aztec tattoos are unique in their design as they are quite attractive due to their geometric designs. The use of these tattoo designs date back to the times of the Mayans, Incas, and Aztec civilizations. These tribal tattoos of the past are the basis of the present day tattoos in used in Mexico. These tattoos include themes of the Sun, the freedom loving Eagle, the Aztec calendar, and the Princess of the Warriors. Native Americans used tattoos as witnessed by the spread of Christianity by the Jesuit priests. They recorded that the chiefs and outstanding warriors of the Iroquois and the Chickasaw wore elaborate tattoos to show they status within the tribe. Women wore tattoos to indicate whether they were married or to which group they belong the belonged to. The first tattoo shop in the United States was created in 1846. His first customers were soldiers from both sides of the Civil War. The creator of the first electric tattoo gun was a man named, Samuel O’Reilly.Indonesia is one place in the world where the use of tribal tattooing is still practiced and maintained today. For over a thousand years these tribal tattoos represented a way of life for these people. Borneo tattoo designs are used everywhere in the world today. These tattoos are the most recognized as the “tribal” tattoos in the western hemisphere. Men and women adore these tribal tattoos as being very hot and sexy. Professional athletes, actresses like Angelina Jolie and other celebrities can be seen with these tribal designed tattoos.

4 Key Things You Need to Know About Henna Tattoo Designs

Article by Alec Jameson

Henna tattoos are more of a traditional and temporary way of adorning your skin with designs of your choice. More commonly called Mehndi, this particular tattoo design has South Asian roots. Henna is made out of Henna plants, and then a dye is added to the paste which helps in adhesion and binding to the area where it is applied. This temporary tattoo design has characteristic dark shades of reds and browns

Henna patterns

Many people who are used to a whole variety of colors in tattoos, might find henna colors rather limited, but henna is truly a unique and intricate form of body art, and there are numerous gorgeous designs to choose from. Henna designs speak volumes about the wearer and there are many people skilled in this art who can design their own patterns and apply henna themselves.

It is true that henna designs are temporary, but there are numerous methods and tips on how to make it last for even a whole month. Henna is a unique and original art and comparing it is not fair to compare it to the new ink oriented henna tattoos

These henna tattoos, unlike the ink version, look traditional and festive. The designs are mostly complex with a lot of intricacy involved in them, and these are used ceremoniously in many parts of the world.

Henna designs can also be a great hobby or skill. For those who can’t manage free hand designing, there are stencils easily available today for easy application on henna

Benefits of Henna Tattoos

There is not even a single question of pain when it comes to henna application, much unlike permanent tattoos. Plus there are no side effects to henna. There are some rules that you must follow though, to get the desired results, such as letting the henna dry two hours before removing it. It should also be noted that because henna designs are temporary, the shades tend to change. If you don’t wish to keep the henna tattoo for long, you can wash it off sooner than usual. These look much better than their ink alternatives

Henna Patterns

The range of designs when it comes to Henna tattoos is extensive, especially when these are being used for adorning the body. The individual wearing the tattoo and the one who designed it, take pride in the fact that they can create something this intricate and gorgeous

Black Henna

The first thing that you need to know about black henna is that, it is not organic and is a derivative of PPD which can give rise to certain allergic reactions. You must be careful because there are many vendors who sell black henna by making people believe that it is real organic henna

Henna application is appreciated in many cultures and is used for adorning parts of the body in a beautiful way.

The Symbolism of Dragoon Tattoo Designs

Article by Moira Logan

The dragon is a mythological creature that is both fearsome and beautiful the subject of folklore around the world. It is a formidable creature, usually seen as a winged or scaly beast with enormous claws that can emit fire from its mouth. In the Western world, dragons are often seen as mean or scary, but Asian dragons carry a different message.

Dragon tattoo designs come in many different shapes, styles and sizes, but they all have certain things in common. The dragon tattoo design, popular with both men and women, sends a solid message without the need to be formidable. Dragon tattoos, and dragon art in general, don’t all convey the same meaning. Dragons are part of the myths of many different cultures, which each has its unique set of characteristics and meanings. Many dragon tattoo designs are designed to be spiritual and to send a message of intelligence and compassion.

Chinese and Japanese dragon tattoos are very popular, but there are many other designs of dragon tattoos, all of which appeal to a wide variety of people. Today’s tattoo artists create dragon tattoo art that can look traditional or modern, tribal or realistic, sweet, charming or terrifying. Some dragon tattoo designs are relatively small and found on an arm or leg, while others are large enough to wrap around the trunk of the body. Either way, the dragon tattoo design is a strong image and sends a strong message.

European dragons are quite different from Asian dragons though they are recognizably the same creature. The fairy tale dragon may be on its own or the dragon tattoo design may be accompanied by other associated images – think knights or fairies, for example. The lines are likely to be finer with intricate detailing. These dragon tattoo designs make a beautiful and striking visual images.

Dragons also take their place in Celtic mythology. The red dragon is associated with the Britons (the Welsh) and the white dragon with the Saxons. The red dragon is one of the few European benevolent dragons.

.

It’s easy to see why dragon tattoo designs are growing in popularity. The graceful, curving lines of a dragon image lend themselves well to a variety of tattoo styles, and dragon tattoo designs are a great expression of several different folklore traditions.

Sanskrit Tattoo Designs: Why Sanskrit And Not Kanji Tattoo Designs?

Article by Tim Newton

Why Sanskrit tattoo designs? Why not Hebrew or Arabic tattoo designs? Or tattoos in other old languages? Right now, the only competitor to Sanskrit is Chinese/Japanese words used in tattoos.

So why is Sanskrit so popular in tattoo designs? Partly due to the whims and vagaries of fashion, and partly because it looks elegant. Consider the flowing curves joined by horizontal lines at the top. This makes them natural for tattoo designs. Armband tattoos, even tribal tattoos can be designed from Sanskrit words.

Compared to Sanskrit, Chinese/Japanese words tend to look blocky. They just do not flow as well. Mind you, they can represent very complex ideas in very few words. Ancient Chinese and Japanese aristocrats created beautiful and complex poems with just a few words. The most witty of them could create poems with more than one meaning. Unfortunately, all this richness of ideas is lost in the modern world today, where almost no one has the necessary depth of literary and artistic education to appreciate poetic tattoos inked in Chinese/Japanese.

It is no wonder that Sanskrit tattoo designs beat out their Chinese/Japanese counterparts, especially in this part of the world – they just look too darned good!

How Do Indian Religious Authorities View Sanskrit Tattoo Designs?

Like practitioners of other major religions, Hindus look at the human body as a creation of God which should not be defaced with tattoos and piercings. And definitely not using holy scripts.

But while the holy man condemns such mistreatment of the human body, the society around him often has different ideas. Even in India, the home of Sanskrit, piercings in the form of ear rings and nose studs are common, especially for women. While Sanskrit tattoo designs are not widely flaunted, they are present. Rules have even appeared on how these tattoos should be maintained.

For the modern Hindu who wants to sport a Sanskrit tattoo, the area he chooses to place it must be stripped of hair. This area of flesh must never be touched by dirt.

How Does The Public View Sanskrit Tattoo Designs?

Well, in India, tattoos inked in Sanskrit are becoming more widely accepted. You can now see people with one or two religious symbols inked as a tattoo on their flesh. The most popular of the tattoo images is the Om symbol.

Fortunately, the rest of us are not in India. So we are not subject to the same strict set of rules regarding tattoo placement as the Hindus.

A Sanskrit tattoo design quoting one of the stanzas from the Mahabharata or Bagavadgita epics sure looks very impressive. If you understand the real meaning of your tattoo, it can help to inspire you when you are striving to overcome some obstacles in your life.

Article by Anderson Carwin

When someone chooses a tattoo to look and feel tough, it is common for them to pick an image of a skull especially since there are a variety of different skull tattoo designs. On first thought, people usually associate skulls with death or fearlessness. People usually envision darkness around skulls, but that is not always the case. Depending on the designs, the image of the skull can actually be drawn in a way that it looks cartoonish or even cute. It is interesting to see how a skull can start off at the most negative spectrum and extend all the way to the delightful and magical spectrum based solely on color and the different skull tattoo designs. But nonetheless, the meaning still remains the same regardless of the image chosen.

In Christian art and culture, skulls symbolize eternity, repentance and human vanity. A skull with a serpent crawling through the eye sockets is understood as a representation of immortality as well as knowledge. But more importantly, the skull itself is seen as a sign of triumph. In times of battle, it is common for Lords to request the head of the person they wish to see dead. The reason for the decapitation of the head is to show solid proof that the person is in fact dead, and it also displays power and superiority while bringing fear to the public.

In ancient times, the skull symbolized great change rather than death or danger. In the present day, skulls have adapted the negative light because the greatest change a person can have in their lifetime is death. But do not let death or other negative resemblances scare you away from getting a skull tattoo as there is a more positive spin on the meaning. Skull tattoos can also be seen as a symbol for protection, strength, and power. Skulls can also be used to represent a time when you overcame a tragedy or obstacle which shows your strength and determination as a person. But above all, the image of a skull makes you look tough.

Forearm Tattoo Designs: An Introduction

Article by Steve Salvatori

Forearm tattoo designs are an extremely popular place to get tattoos for those who want to go all-out with their tattoos. If you’re getting this kind of tattoo it goes without saying that you’re not a very timid person. Sometimes people shy away from tattoos below their sleeve line because they’re afraid about messing up future job interviews and things like that. You’re probably not worried about that if you’re getting a full sleeve though.

Two things to think about are the time it will take to get that tattoo done and the cost of it. Covering your entire forearm is a lot of ink and will take a lot of time. Also spend a lot of energy finding the perfect artist to do your tattoo.

Unlike a tattoo on your shoulder or back, forearm tattoos are not easily covered up or disguised with other tattoos. You will also find it impossible, nearly, to get removed.

The price of getting your arms done will also be consideration for this relatively large tattoo. Unlike simple designs placed elsewhere in the body, you will pay good money to have a good artist paint a mural in ink on your arms. Furthermore, people that opt to get tattoos on their forearms often decide to get both done. You may also commonly find full sleeves of tattoos.

If you’re seriously considering getting a tattoo on your forearm, you’ve probably already thought about these. A tattoo on your form is quite a strong statement.

Some great designs for this part of your body include: dragons, tribal tattoos, other animals, or anything else meaningful to you specifically. A great design that can wrap around your arm is a snake tattoo design.

You really should look at some high-quality tattoo design galleries before you make any permanent positions. For less than the cost of a few trips to Starbucks, you can join and view some of the best tattoo galleries in the world. For a couple of bucks you can have access to a giant database of kick ass tattoos. The majority are rubbish, but there are a few diamonds in the rough. Find some good reviews and pick one with the highest rating, that’s the best way to go.

If you opt for a tattoo on your forearm you obviously are making a bold statement. You won’t be alone however. David Beckham, Sean Connery, Gilby Clark and many other celebrities all have tattoos on their forearms
