Each and every spray systems is made up of three crucial parts: a compressor to pressurize the paint, a container to hold the material and a spray gun to spread it across the required surface through its nozzle in a fine mist. The process of painting by use of compressed spray gun is very simple. On pressing the trigger switch, Ventury effect gets formed, and the paint combines with the compressed air releases itself into the surface as a fine mist.
Different spray painting techniques are employed to paint the surface of a car and all of them use compressed air or fluid or air pressure to discharge and direct the spray. Spray guns are commonly used for spraying cars. Spray guns have two main classifications: suction fed and gravity fed. Both are easily identifiable from its shape and the way it is arranged. In suction fed spray guns, the paint container is fixed below the air gun and compressed air is used to attain the desired spread. It also has a dedicated air cap to generate low vacuum. In gravity fed, the container is at the top of the gun and the major force acting on the system is gravity though compressed air is used to a lesser extent. Gravity fed spray guns are capable of giving good performance than suction fed guns, as it uses less compressed air and has less weight.
Another process is the HVLP or High Volume Low Pressure system. Though akin to spray guns as far as the compressed air is concerned, the gun works at low pressure. The effect is that wastage is minimized to a large extent.
A third process uses Low Volume Low Pressure or LVLP system, and is an improvement of the HVLP system of painting. Here wastage is further controlled and the intended surface gets more paint. Both HVLP and LVLP system need high capacity compressors and may not be ideal for every day use.
In Electrostatic Spray painting, paint powder is used in this technique. When the paint is discharged from the gun, it is so arranged that it develops an electrostatic charge and is sprayed to the oppositely charged surface. As the minute paint particles repulse each other, the area covered by the paint is much more than other systems.
It is important to adhere to safety norms as fine mists of paint are formed and gets released into the air.

His Most Famous Painting (Beata Beatrix) – Dante Gabriel Rossetti

All his life, English Pre-Raphaelite poet, painter, illustrator, and translator Dante Gabriel Rossetti, DGR, or simply Dante Rossetti (1828-1882) was torn between his two passions, poetry and painting. Just like his three poet siblings, Daniel too studied poetry and attended King’s College to fulfill his poetic ambition first. In effect, the artist achieved fame in both the avenues of art, painting and poetry. For Rossetti, these two creative forms were almost inseparable. He often drew from poetry, his subjects, a situation, or a character to paint and vice versa, he wrote poems based on the paintings he made, as evident in his most famous painting “Beata Beatrix.”
In “Beata Beatrix,” (1864-1870) Rossetti’s background in poetry and his inability to keep his women out of his pictures (or the inability of any artist to keep his own life out of his art), are clear. The oil on canvas work is based on the poem ‘La Vita Nuova (The New Life),’ poet Dante Alighieri wrote in 1293. In the poem, Dante (Alighieri) recounts his first meeting with his love Beatrice Portineri, when he was nine years old and she was eight. Through 42 chapters, the poem continues until Beatrice’s death. The poem and the painting were mystically interlinked through the motif of the premature death of a loveable person. The love however, is not defeated and continues even after.
Art imitates life in many ways. It is the prerogative of the artists to infuse into art some of their life. Such clues about the artists can be collected by merely glancing at their art, as can be witnessed in “Beata Beatrix.” Rossetti’s beloved wife Elizabeth Siddal or Lizzie died in 1862 from a deliberate overdose of an alcoholic tincture of opium. She took this desperate step soon after her baby was born dead. Started in 1864, in 1870, eight years after Lizzie’s death, Rossetti completed his most famous portrayal of his late wife through the painting “Beata Beatrix.”
Dante Rossetti embodied the essence of the poem into the image of an ethereal beauty Beatrix, shown sitting sideways, with her eyes closed. She is spiritually pondering over her death in the future. A red colored dove, reflecting the Holy Spirit, is sitting by her, clutching a bunch of poppies in its beak. The poppy symbolizes Lizzie’s suicide from opium. The unusual hue of dove represents the undying & pure love and passion. A sundial is shown at the right of Beata, on the floor. It shows nine, the time of Lizzie’s death. Dante can be seen at the right of the canvass of “Beata Beatrix,” watching the figure of Love, from across the road, with a well behind him. The figure of Love is dressed in red and is holding a book. She sleekly occupies the left of the canvass. In the backdrop, River Arno and its bridge are depicted. A distant silhouette of the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo of Florence is shown. Poet Dante and Beatrice Portineri lived there, until her death in June 1290.
The painting is the first of Dante’s series portraying feminine beauty. The paint has a chalky appearance, with figures having undefined contours. Sun’s luminosity has been interestingly used to mark the key elements of the event, the time, the figure of Love, the dove, poppy, and Beata. Gold, green, purple, and orange/red, are the key colors dominating the artwork. The masterpiece was one of Dante’s later paintings that set stage for ‘European Symbolism’ that would follow later. “Beata Beatrix” is presently displayed at the art gallery Tate Britain, London.

Western Painting – Figurative Art – Representational Real World Creativity

Figurative Art – The Concept
Figurative Art or Figurativism refers to representational art, including the depiction of human or animal figures. More appropriately, Figurativism is an art form that represents a real world image.
The Details
From ancient times to the modern day art, human figures have been an intriguing factor and the subject of artists the world over. Whether it is curvaceous female figures or muscular male structure, the human body is one of the most exploited areas in painting. The fact takes an interesting note especially because a human body is as obscure as obvious. Touching a demanding scale, there is very little or almost no scope for errors in Figurative Art.
The Correlations
The latest buzz in the world of Figurativism is Photo-Realism. The art involves making creations resembling color photographs and figure paintings that appear quite real. This is a more recent area of development in the field of Figurativism. A lot of innovation and work is yet to come.
The Artists & Artworks
All across the globe, ancient cultures offer splendid examples of Figurative Art. One of the earliest being the sculpture of a woman found in Hohle Fels Cave of Southern Germany. The carved figure is more than 35,000 years old and has been sculpted from a mammoth’s tusk. Cave paintings in Lascaux, France also portray an array of animals found in the region. Similarly, male human body was considered an ideal for figurative sculptors in Greece.
Renaissance painters were extremely skilled in Figurative Paintings and sculptures. Leonardo da Vinci’s (1452-1519) ‘The Virgin of the Rocks’ (1483-86) and ‘The Last Supper’ (1495-98) clearly reflect the painter’s knowledge of anatomy and his superior skills in Figurativism. Michelangelo’s (1475-1564) paintings on the ceiling and walls of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy, clearly reflect his mastery in the art form. ‘The Creation of Adam’ (1511) is a fresco by Michelangelo, which reflects the biblical story when God breathed life into Adam. ‘The Last Judgment’ (1534-41), his fresco on the altar wall of Sistine Chapel, is another huge feat and proof of the magnanimity of Michelangelo as an extraordinary Figurative painter.
Modern Figurative artists from the 19th and 20th centuries include Edouard Manet (French – 1832-83), Ilya Repin (Russian – 1844-1930), Egon Schiele (Austrian – 1890-1918), and Lucian Freud (British – born 1922). Freud is the grandson of Sigmund Freud, the famous psychoanalyst, and is known for his depiction of nudes in unnatural positions. Masterpieces of Lucian Freud include ‘Naked Man with Rat’ (1977), ‘Naked Girl with Egg’ (1980), ‘Bella’ (1982), and ‘Painter and Model’ (1986).
